Metro creatures

Metro stations are one of my favourite photographic scenes.  I like to play with wide angle lenses, perspectives and timing to reveal their hidden beauty, which often remains unnoticed by the thousands of commuters passing by every day.  This series shows some of the fantastic creatures that can be seen in metro stations with a bit of imagination: aliens, robots, insects, marine animals, etc. I started the series in Brussels but over time, I added more 'metro creatures' spotted in my trip to other cities. Timing is important:  shooting outside rush hours when stations are nearly empty helps to put emphasis on the stations as the main subject; the blue hour can add a special atmosphere in stations with glass ceilings; moving trains can complete the picture or hide unwanted elements in some cases. Most shots taken on tripod with a slow shutter speed, some are handheld.
